On Stevie Wonder and the Problem of non-infinite Melodies
I accidentally (if there are any accidents) improvise a melody that sounds somewhat like a Stevie Wonder tune, which takes me down a rabbit hole of musical connectedness and its close friend—litigation!
The irony, of course, is that Stevie Wonder was sued years ago for copyright infringement by a songwriter who claimed that he stole the tune, “I Just Called to Say I Love You.”
Not that Stevie Wonder or Paul McCartney will be suing me anytime soon: there has to be significant money involved to activate that sort of litigation.
So all I really need is a couple hundred thousand people to listen to my podcast, which would bring sponsors in, which would then lead to possible litigation, which would bring in more subscribers…
In other words, just listen to the damn podcast.
